# What other reason do we have not to persist?

## Question

This year is my first year working as a sales manager. In my fifth year of entrepreneurship, it seems like all the bad things have happened at once recently: two major European and American clients suddenly canceled orders, and last week, a shipment was randomly inspected by customs after arriving at the port, resulting in a 10-day delay. The client sent a legal letter threatening to sue for compensation. The payment is still held by the freight forwarder, and the factory is urging us to pay the final balance. Lying in bed at night, I kept wondering: I'm so tired and under so much pressure. What reason do I have to keep going? Should I just give up?

### Answer 1 — Best Answer

From a compliance perspective，the customs inspections，license issues，and regulatory policy understanding you are currently experiencing are building a moat that competitors will struggle to replicate. Every rectification after an inspection，every communication record with customs，and every in-depth understanding of regulatory documents will accumulate into your compliance assets. Giving up means that these experiences gained at the cost of real money and sleepless nights will be erased entirely. More realistically，compliance requirements in the foreign trade industry will only become increasingly stringent. The pitfalls you've encountered now may become insurmountable barriers for new entrants next year. The significance of persistence lies in the fact that once you have successfully implemented this compliance system，it will itself become a core capability for serving clients and charging premium prices.

### Answer 2

In the logistics industry, resilience is earned through real-world experience, not calculated theoretically. The inspection delays, freight forwarders' withholding payments, and chaotic shipping schedules you encountered this time will become your emergency response plans and negotiating leverage next time. Now you know which ports have high inspection rates, which freight forwarders are reliable in critical moments, and which trade terms can protect your cash flow. This information is far more valuable than any training course. If you give up now, the next novice will have to pay the tuition fees all over again. Stay persistent, and you'll gradually build a reliable logistics network: trustworthy customs brokers, flexible warehousing solutions, and trailer companies willing to offer credit terms. This network will be the foundation for securing large orders and handling urgent requests in the future.

### Answer 3

The moment the client sends a lawyer's letter is precisely the turning point for establishing deep trust. Giving up now would mean ceding the stage to showcase your professionalism. Think about it: if you could quickly propose alternative solutions, take responsibility for reasonable losses, and maintain transparent communication at this time, this client would become your most loyal partner for the next decade. Crisis management capability is the dividing line for top-tier suppliers. The reason to persist is that every negotiation, every compromise, and every solution design you encounter now are accumulating the most valuable business reputation - "reliability". The foreign trade community is small. The professionalism you demonstrate in handling crises today will become industry reputation tomorrow, bringing unexpected new clients. Giving up is too easy, but the stories of those who persist are truly worth telling.
